FOR MEDICAL PROVIDERS

Information to share with families who have infants in child care:
  • In child care settings, infants must be placed on their backs to sleep in CPSC-certified cribs only. 
  • Infants are not allowed to be placed in alternative sleep positions in child care.
  • The use of positioners, wedges, or other items to prop the infant or mattress are prohibited in child care.
  • Swaddling is prohibited in child care settings.
  • Infants are not allowed to sleep in swings, bouncy seats, or other “containers” in child care.
